A mutual passion for a unique and fiery brand of music brought these four veteran bluegrass musicians together; the pure joy of being on the same page and entertaining audiences has led them to continue this collaboration, which began as a one-off show in the hills of western North Carolina.

Darren Nicholson is an immensely talented singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, Grammy nominee, and IBMA award winner.  A gifted performer from an early age who graduated from the smaller stages of his youth to stages such as the Grand Ole Opry, he co-founded the successful band Balsam Range, and did so alongside banjo legend Marc Pruett.

Pruett is a Grammy and IBMA award winner, co-founder of Balsam Range, and an iconic voice in the crowded chorus of influential North Carolina banjo pickers.  He received an Honorary Doctorate of Arts from Western North Carolina University in 2010, recognizing his sizable contributions to the world of music.

Audie Blaylock is a highly-decorated musician boasting IBMA awards and a Grammy nomination himself.  He fronts the bluegrass powerhouse Audie Blaylock and Redline and has had his music serve as the theme for the Travel Channel series Backroad Gold, all while faithfully carrying on the spirit of traditional bluegrass music with unparalleled intensity.

Reed Jones is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, music preservationist, and an accomplished songwriter.  He also holds down the bass spot in Blaylock’s band and has written numerous number one songs (including that aforementioned Travel Channel theme) while touring internationally with Redline.

So what happens when four seasoned musicians such as this collaborate for the right reasons?  Come to Hemisphere Coffee Roasters on April 8th to find out.  You can rest assured it will be a fully-caffeinated, adult-strength bluegrass experience!

Bill Purk:  Having played music for 60 years, Bill Purk is a walking encyclopedia of country and bluegrass history.  His uncanny ability to rattle off lyrics to (literally) thousands of songs is nothing short of amazing, and his home-spun sense of humor and storytelling is as deeply engaging as it is highly entertaining, making him the perfect fit to team up with the “All-Stars.”
